Not very long time ago, I tried looking for Diary ng Panget at Wattpad. I was intrigued that I wanted to read the book since its been around friends and acquaintances' mouths. Eventually, I wasn't sure if it was the real one or it was another imitation that I found that day. I just couldn't sleep so I was looking for something funny to read. I didn't finish the story. I forgot since I was busy finishing some other American classic books (I downloaded from Project Gutenberg). But probably I will try checking the bookstore for the hard copy and give it another try.
Now the media and then more news about the book are coming up. A movie adaptation is coming soon on theaters next year. Of course, there's a little envy around the neighborhood, and inspiration to others. I too, I am wishing I was friend of this HaveYouSeenThisGirl or at least this quote was mine:
“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.” ― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
Common factor for novelty Filipino books-- comedy + kilig(swoon) factor. This was the genre of the book. I am one of those inspired by this girl since I love writing too. But still, it's hard to get the attention of others to read your story. Lucky for those who are comical in nature like Ramon Bautista and Bob Ong.
I also hope good books more than just comedy and kilig gets the attention from Filipino readers and be published.
A writer's motto is to write even when others will not read it. =) (Sort of a story for my eyes only.) This is said by Virginia Woolf in her diary.

“I will not be "famous," "great." I will go on adventuring, changing, opening my mind and my eyes, refusing to be stamped and stereotyped. The thing is to free one's self: to let it find its dimensions, not be impeded.”
